Keegan was a lonely child growing up way back when in Blizzard City. He didn't truly enjoy being bossed around by his teachers in the Blizzard City Academy, even if he needed to hear what they said. His parents were a truly proud bunch, never really paying attention to what Keegan had to say or what he had accomplished in school. It got to the point that Keegan decide that the only way his parents would notice him is to become gym leader of Blizzard City. Of course, now with that goal in mind, Keegan wondered what exactly one had to do to accomplish it. Going back to the academy, Keegan studied hard on the basic knowledge of Pokemon and decided that maybe becoming Gym Leader was a bad idea. Saddened over the revelation, Keegan decided to travel a bit up Blizzard mountain to find some herbs for his mother.
The journey up the mountain wasn't a difficult one; it was only a few feet up from the base to find the patch of herbs he needed. However, he realized that Pokemon were prone to attack people regardless of wheter or not they had Pokemon, and that he was still in immediate danger. Taking the amount of herbs he needed, he stumbled to come across a lone Snowrunt that was injured. Judging from it's wound, he determined that it was probably a minor burn. It was an ice Pokemon however, and it probably got badly damaged from the attack that caused the burn. Using the jacket he brought with him, Keegan took the Snowrunt back into the city with him.
After a few days, the Snowrunt started to show signs of recovering, much to his dismay. It wasn't like Keegan didn't enjoy taking care of the ice Pokemon; he was saddened that he was going to have to let it go back into teh wild. A few more days later, and Keegan's parents told him that it was time to let the Snowrunt go back into the wild. Bidding the ice Pokemon farewell, he tied a strange red ribbon on it's paw so that it wouldn't forget him.
A few years passed and Keegan graduated out of the academy with top honors, a feat that was unheard of in the history of the city. Since he didn't want to venture far from the city, he decided to take up on a research position at the local Pokemon Gym. He spent hours each day sitting at his desk without any new reports of Pokemon to confirm, boredem taking over his mind. One day, Keegan got a report on a strange snow phenomena on the mountain, something that Keegan had secretly hoped for.
Confused when one of the aides told him to bring some Pokeballs with him, Keegan journeyed back to the mountain he had trekked a few years back. It took a few hours, but he had come across what had started the massive blizzards, a not-so-friendly Abomasnow. He decide that the only way to stop it was to subdue and capture it. He was about to spring into action, when he realized that he didn't have any Pokemon.
He was about to high tail it back, when a Froslass appeared in front of him. This one didn't seem to pose any form of threat to him, and it actually seemed quite friendly. It was then he saw the ribbon he had tied around the Snowrunt a few years back, proving that this Froslass was that same Snowrunt.
Since it seemed to want to fight, Keegan fought alongside teh Froslass and succeded in capturing the Abomasnow. But instead os reporting it to the authorities, he decided to keep the Abomasnow for himself. With two new Pokemon in his arsenal, he decided to go back to his original goal of becoming Gym Leader. It was no longer about impressing his parents; it was about gaining a substantial raise in his status in the city.
Taking up the Gym Leader Trainee course in the Pokemon Gym, Keegan pushed hard to rise high above the others, earning him his rank that he still holds to this day.
